“Nothing is working.” Those were the exact words from the venue owner five minutes before the start of one of my Shine events. No audio. No visuals. No sound engineer (He was on a date). Meanwhile, nearly 500 people were taking their seats. And I spent the next 90 minutes improvising, tap dancing, and holding it all together. By the end, I had a massive headache. But the feedback? “This was the best Shine I’ve ever been to.” That night taught me that sometimes, even when nothing seems to go right, everything can still fall into place.
