It's not your story

When someone creates an inaccurate story about you, and begins sharing the story with others, they are not really saying anything about you. Rather, the story is about themselves.

In other words, they are reporting on the facts as experienced through their mental or emotional filter. That's why stories are always about the storyteller and never about the so-called "facts." So don't be surprised if the script changes you suggest (to make their story more accurate) get soundly rejected.

It's their story, not yours.
